Our story

Hugo's Cocktails™ started the way a lot of things started in 2020: we lost our jobs. Restaurants across New York closed, and after years working behind some of the best bar programs in the city, we suddenly had a lot of time and not a lot of income. What we did have was a kitchen full of ingredients and friends who kept showing up. Our house turned into the spot. People would come over, bring whatever they had, and we'd make proper cocktails together. Eventually enough friends said "you should sell these" that it stopped being a joke and became a company. The idea was never complicated. We wanted to make real cocktails, built the way you'd build them at a bar, with real ingredients. Not another hard seltzer or flavored water calling itself a cocktail. Everything we make is a riff on a classic, recipes we worked out over years of bartending all over the city. We didn't make these up for a can. We made them for people sitting in front of us, and they held up. At the end of the day, the whole thing is about hospitality. That's the job we've always had. We want to hand you a cocktail that's as good as one you'd get sitting at a bar, and then get out of your way.
